If i remember correctly, a Pterodactyl is the species of dinosaurs that refers to ALL dinosaur flyers, such as quetzalcoatlus and Pteranadon. The Pteranodon is just a specific TYPE of Pterodactyl, like a bald eagle is a type of modern day raptors.

Pteranodon is one undertype of Pterodactylus.

By the way: A Pterodactylus is technically NO dinosaur – those are only the landbased reptiles! (Sorry, I am a teacher and sometimes can’t help being a know-it-all! ;o)
